Drayton

Graham moved to Drayton in 2010 having previously lived in Hellesdon. The previous year after working for what was originally Eastern Electricity for 31 years Graham took early retirement.

“I  really love living in Drayton, the feel of village life and the wonderful and friendly community spirit” says Graham.

Graham joined Drayton Parish Council in 2014 and has a keen interest in housing, highways and

finance.  He was the parish council’s representative for the NDR (Broadland Northway) planning application and continues in this role for the Norwich Western Link proposed scheme.

In his spare time Graham enjoys walking with his wife Jill, especially on Marriotts Way, and actually used to play for Drayton Tennis Club 30 years ago.

Adrian moved to Drayton in 2004 having always lived and worked in Norfolk. 

He joined Drayton Parish Council in 2016 to work within our community and help retain the unique feel that our village has. Living within the village he understands the needs of our residents and businesses.

He works as an Area Director for a leading international bank supporting local SME businesses.

Adrian Chairs the Open Spaces committee which look after the recreation areas and is keen to see these promote wellbeing within our community.  He also represents the Drayton North residents as the Broadland District Councillor.

Adrian is a Season Ticket Holder at Norwich City and Musical Director for the Norwich Accordion Band.

Jeff moved to the area from the North East in 1989 and joined the council ten years later. For many years he was Vice Chairman of the council and has also chaired most committees of the council during the intervening period.  In addition, he is Chairman of the Friends of Longdale that organises the annual Drayton Fete and Vice Chairman of the national organisation, Bus Users UK, that represents bus passengers. Jeff is a Newcastle United supporter and is now retired and living with his wife in Thorpe Marriott.  His two sons, their wives and children live locally.

Hilary has lived in Drayton for 53 years and taught at the Drayton schools from 1969 to 1983. She previously served on the Parish Council  for thirteen years and was on the committee responsible for the Drayton Neighbourhood Plan.

Hilary loves living in Drayton and being part of the village community. She loves walking, gardening, travelling and jazz and is particularly interested in footpaths, trees, recreational facilities, housing and activities for youngsters.  She is on The Friends of Longdale and the Bob Carter Leisure Centre committees and a WI member.

Hilary would love to see the village centre become a community space instead of through road for traffic.

Keith’s family in Drayton goes back to the early 1900’s when his Great Grandfather, Horace Sepping, a Norwich boot and shoe manufacturer employing a staff of 100 began buying property in Drayton. Keith was born in one of these houses in Costessey Lane.

Keith’s father Horace (Terry) was an Aircraft Fitter in the Second World War. He started a garage business in November 1947 at Fakenham Rd, Drayton where Keith and his son still carry on the business. Keith obtained a City and Guilds as a motor mechanic at Norwich City College and became a part-time adult education instructor at the Blyth Jex School as well as joining the business.

Keith has been a Parish Councillor since 2003 and serves on the Environment and Highways committee.

Keith’s interests are his job, clocks and classic cars and he likes to help people wherever he can.

I had been attending Drayton’s Parish Council meetings for approximately 3 years, initially it was as a result of Carter Road traffic issues but before long I had realised I was interested in the full breadth of the monthly agendas, which were being discussed and tried to attend meetings whenever

I could. It therefore seemed logical to become a Councillor myself.

As a dog walker, I probably see most of Drayton in any given week and this provides me with an ideal way to meet and talk with parishioners as well as an opportunity for identifying any possible enhancements which might be made, for the benefit of our community.
