NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN
Drayton Parish Council is seeking community membership for the Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Group.
WHAT IS THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN?
A neighbourhood plan is a document that sets out planning policies for an area and can; protect local green spaces; encourage better designed places; and bring forward housing that genuinely meets local needs. It’s written by the local community and helps get the right types of development, in the right place.
Drayton Parish Council adopted the Drayton Neighbourhood Plan on 26 July 2016
and is available for viewing here:

The intended lifespan of the Plan is to 2026 which matches the intended lifespan of the Joint Core Strategy setting out the over-arching strategy for growth across Norwich, Broadland and South Norfolk.
WHAT IS THE NEIGHBOURHOOD PLAN ADVISORY GROUP?
The Neighbourhood Plan Advisory Group is a Working Group of Drayton Parish Council. The aim of the Group is to prepare and develop a Neighbourhood Plan for the parish of Drayton. The Group will set out policies and proposals that seek to address the community’s aspirations for the area and make recommendations to Council for approval.

WHO CAN BE A MEMBER?
Local residents, representatives of local community organisations and local business owners can all submit an expression of interest for membership.
Drayton Parish Council will consider expressions of interest received and appoint membership ensuring the views of different sectors of the community are represented that that a range of skills, knowledge and experience is available to support the development of the plan.

Relevant skills and experience that may be useful to the Advisory group include:
• Project management
• Planning: Familiarity with the planning system, development plan documents, writing policies etc;
• Community Engagement and communication: e.g. understanding community engagement processes and methods, leadership, motivation and communication skills;
• Marketing, promotion and consultation: Designing leaflets, promotional material, questionnaires and surveys;
• Funding and delivery: Sources of funding, grant/funding applications, fund-raising
• Writing, editorial, graphic design: Report writing, editing/proofing, design of reports, maps plans and other graphics, ICT literate
• Expertise in specific topic areas: Housing, transport, the historic environment

All Group members may be expected to attend training in neighbourhood planning to support the work of the group.
